These special and unique beads hold an important place in our sacred cultural history. First created in India as fragrant meditation beads, they reached the Catholic faith in the 1500's and became the first rosaries.

The beads are hard and durable and do not lose their fragrance over time thus becoming cherished heirlooms.

Fragrant Beads Made of 100% Rose Petals

Each bead is made from nothing but rose petals and water-cooked slowly in a cast iron pot and then hand rolled one by one. Even through this process they retain their fragrance. The beads are hard and durable as well as very smooth and spherical and do not lose their scent over time, making them true heirlooms that can be handed down generation to generation.

Born in India over 2000 years ago as sacred meditation beads, these beads traveled through Eastern Orthodox churches, the Muslim faith and arrived in the Catholic tradition in the 1500's, becoming the very first rosaries.Today true rosaries made in this ancient way with 100% rose petals are very difficult to find. These rose petal beads are handcrafted by Markus Vikash on Salt Spring Island, who has been keeping this craft alive for over 26 years.

My Story

I am an artisan/craftsman that makes beads from nothing but rose petals. I create a paste by cooking down the rose petals in a cast iron pot and then roll the paste into balls in my hands.

I have a simple business (just myself) and I work from home.

I live on beautiful Salt Spring Island in the Pacific Northwest in British Columbia. We have a great community and I attend a Farmer and Crafts market every Saturday throughout the warm season.

I am an active gardener/farmer and am deeply drawn to Nature and Spirituality.
